Common Issues with a Heater in California

It’s no surprise that our climate in Hollywood is a little different than our neighbors in the United States. While they deal with frigid temperatures that are constantly dipping below zero, we panic when the thermostat dips into the forties!

That being said, unbeknownst to a lot of our neighbors around the country, we do have heaters and they tend to need service just like any other heater out there! In fact, we’re writing this post right now because there could be homeowners out there in dire need of heater repair in West Hollywood!

So, for all those who are struggling with their problematic furnaces, this post is for you. Hopefully, as we explore the most common issues with a furnace in our area, you can get a clearer idea of what you’ll need and who you can call.

There Is No Heat

This is a big one! Your heater exists to give your home heating when temperatures drop outside. If you’re not getting any heat from your furnace, how can it call itself a heater?

On a more serious note, the root of this problem depends on what kind of fuel powers your heater. If you’ve got a gas furnace and nothing is burning, there’s a pretty serious problem in your heater. In the combustion chamber, heat is supposed to be produced by your pilot light burning the natural gas that gets funneled inside. If your heater isn’t burning fuel then you need a professional to address the problem immediately!

If your heater is an electric furnace, then there could just be something wrong with your electrical system. While this might still be a problem that needs to be addressed by an HVAC technician, it could be better news.

High Heating Bills

This repair issue is less likely to be known by homeowners in our area, but it can be a huge clue that your heater is having trouble! A furnace that’s encountering problems will usually require more fuel to run the same job it always has, particularly because certain components are suffering from wear and tear.

Compare your heating bills to last year and the year before that, as well as to the bills your neighbors pay. If you notice a trend that your bills are getting higher and higher each year—then you could be suffering from a heater that really needs repair.

Strange Noises

If you’re calling us about the sound of air gently whooshing from your air vents, then we’d like to tell you that those noises are completely normal. However, if your furnace is making a booming, banging, rattling, or screeching noise then we’d like to tell you on record that these noises are not normal.

This is where homeowners are going to have to be vigilant on their own since we never know when there’s a problem that’s occurring in your house if we aren’t there to hear the noise! So, with these three common furnace repairs in mind, we hope it’s been made as clear as possible that these should be addressed by a professional to keep your HVAC system happy and healthy!
