Service technician with a customer. Plumbers, electricians, cable repair, etc.

If you’re interested in buying a new air conditioner for your home, you’ve likely been doing a lot of research about different types of air conditioners. But what about the installation process? Many homeowners are interested in what happens during an air conditioner installation, especially if you’ve never had to replace an air conditioner before.

The good news is, AC replacement is a fairly straightforward process. Yes, it could take nearly a full day’s worth of work to install your new air conditioner, but that’s because we take our time to get the job done right. You can keep reading to learn more about the steps that we take during AC installation so you know what to expect when you buy a new air conditioner.

Initial Assessment

Before you even decide what type of air conditioner you want, our team will complete an initial assessment of your home. We can offer suggestions for what type of air conditioner might fit your needs and home the best. Once you pick out a unit, our next step is to make a plan for the installation based on your home layout and current air conditioning system. We want to be as prepared as possible on installation day.

Removal

When we arrive to install your new air conditioner, the first step is going to be removing all of your old AC components. We will place drop cloths around your home to ensure that we don’t make a mess on your floors. Then we will begin taking apart your air conditioner and removing it from your home.

Prep Work

After removing your old system, we will begin preparing for your new one. First, we will check all of your existing connections to ensure that they are secure and up to code. We want to make sure that your new air conditioner has the most potential for a long life span and great energy efficiency. If we need to replace any of the connections with new ones, we will do that first.

Installation

Then begins the installation of your brand-new air conditioner. We will replace your indoor and outdoor units and connect your air conditioner to your home’s energy source. We will charge your refrigerant, pressurize the system, and do lots of testing to make sure your new air conditioner is working great. Honestly, the testing process can be the longest and most tedious part. That’s because we want to make sure the installation job is done right. How your air conditioner gets installed can have a huge impact on how efficient it is over its entire lifespan.

Cleanup and Review

Before leaving, we will finish up with any additional cleanup and then walk you through how to use your new system. Even though you’ve probably used a variety of different air conditioners in your life, this one is completely unique to any others. We want to make sure that we offer you all of our tips and tricks for maintaining your air conditioner and using it effectively so that it can serve your family well and have a long lifespan.
